According to Thames Valley Police, there were 27% fewer crimes at this year’s Reading Festival than in 2004. There were 436 reported crimes overall, listed as the following:
175 were thefts from tents
173 for possession of cannabis
35 for deception in relation to forget ticket sales
There were 83 arrests made, however, compared with 63 in 2004.

Guardian Media Group (GMG) Radio has increased its shareholding in Reading 107 FM to 60.3% from 37.8%. The other shareholder is the Goodhead Group plc, controlled by Reading Football Club Chair John Madejski.

The Thames Valley Police have revealed how they will ensure the safety of the 66,500 revellers attending this year’s Reading Festival.
Police officers will patrol the site to prevent crimes (the majority being thefts from tents) and will be backed up by Mean Fiddler-employed security staff.

The Royal Berkshire and Battle Hospitals NHS Trust launches its public consultation on its application for Foundation Trust status on Monday 15 August 2005. The consultation ends on 4 November. The views of the Reading public will be forwarded on to the Department of Health in December 2005.
