Wendy: I agree with all of your suggestions. I'd love to see more small independent stores.

Hamish: I was also unable to attend. An after work meeting would have been far better, agreed.

All readers: Did any of you go to this meeting? If so, what was discussed specifically?

I'd love to attend this meeting, but I'm quite annoyed that it's on during the day. Why does the council ensure that only people without jobs (or people who can take time off work) can attend these meetings?

What segment of the rich cultural diversity that lives in Reading will now be attending a meeting in the middle of the day that offers a free lunch? Not a fully representative one I think.

Personally, I'd prefer an after work meeting, with no free lunch so people who actually want to attend, but have jobs, can. Anyone who can attend the meeting during the day (apart from hospitality staff I suspect) can attend in the evening.

Markets, small independent stores to support burgeoning small businesses with subsidised overhead costs. Free public spaces that can be used in multiple different ways (art/graffite, skateboarding, exercise, sculpting, giant chess) take the notion of a 'Park' to new heights.
