Hi,
I've always lived in reading and i completely agree "with the judge". It used to be a small town with not much promise but is great now for oportunites. There are some great cycling routes and canal paths to explore and the surrounding areas of reading make you feel as though your in the country but with a busy town centre cosmopolitan vibe. Having mentioned cosmo's "Sahara bar in Reading Town Centre, does the best "cosmo's" with high quality vodka and a great menu and staff. Also, nearby Pangbourne, has the best cheese shop on the high street, I would recommend it.

Oh, final thoughts, if you live in Reading and don't like the town the get involved, start or change something that you don't like. Skate park required? Get involved. Reading bars are rubbish? Open one. Nothing to do? Make it happen, get involved and stop offering lip service. All mouth and no nickers as my old man says

Can't help but laugh. You are all right. Reading has its moments. Borne and bread 30 years. Living? Not whitley, oxford road, Cole park or tilehurst. Try early(bit out of it) or university area. You can still walk to town. Nightlife busy, a bit tiny hopper and most people will use the town for a release. It brings with it what you would imagine. But I have had many a good night out in reading. There are w few miss informed scroats that will claim that the town is 'shit' but I did as well at 18. I still went out in it though. It could be worse, it could be Plymouth. Do what I did. Live in leafy Twyford. Reading is 2 min on the train for shopping and London is 20 min for clubbing. Best of both worlds.

You know every one is so rude on reviews get over your self , people have different thoughts and what they want in living , me personally/ dont bother with the bad comments this my adult opinion , reading is ok if you like shopping general town stuff or people who like to be near london , but if your into outdoor activity its quite limited , dinton , bracknell lookout and the river is not a very nice place , i do find reading rough and i do not wish to be here in the future , but i only came here to study , its very expensive for housing but good for jobs. What ever floats your boat i say.

Having read the email trail I would suggest that Anonymous actually resides in Bracknell and thus is extremely jealous of us lucky folk this side of Berkshire. Having lived throughout the county I can categorically say that Reading was once a blot on the landscape, but during the last 15 years has undergone a definite make over and although their are many things which can be improved and refurbed (Like the Oracle, which in places is showing it's age) is indeed a cracking town to live near with it's connections to the City. It has some of the most affluent areas that touch it's boundaries and so has remained largely recession proof, frankly any town with an Aston Martin Dealership is proof of this. I would suggest that Reading is indeed a great town to live in or near and supports an abundance of activities, eateries and shopping outlets which would keep most people happy!
