Top of the blogs

I was pleasantly surprised to see Reading Roars! mentioned in a BBC - Berkshire feature about blogging. The focus of the article was, however, on another local blog I hadn’t come across before, the award-winning and absolutely quackers Scaryduck, maintained by Alistair Coleman.

Scaryduck is eccentric British humour at its best (up there with Monty Python and The League of Gentlemen), offering bizarre observations, podcasts and a downloadable game called “Scaryduck done a poo” (a game that involves unloading avian faecal matter for points - my highest score was 275).

There are many others, of course, but the following are the best of the bunch, in my opinion:

Business

Sport

Media

Politics

Cheers for the heads up on that article Matt, and for the honourable mention :-)

Great stuff, I’ve added some of your picks to the blog list on our site.

    No problem with the mention.

Don’t want this to sound TOO grovelling, but I went out of my way to plug RR during the interview as you are by far and away the best of the local blogs.

I might point out that I had absolutely nothing to do with the development of the game. Apart from the bit with Sarah Beeny.

Thank you, Scaryduck, for the plug. You are very kind!

Every local blog stands side by side, in my opinion, all offering something special and unique to the reader: political sniping, analysis of the UK housing market, an insight into editorial decisions…and so on. They are fascinating.

Frankly, this blog needs an overhaul. I’m aiming to do something with it soon-ish. This weekend, perhaps.

The game would work really well on a mobile phone, I think, or as a viral.
